Lyrik’s Institution is your premier school-based behavior support organization. We are licensed and insured to provide a variety of school-based services to affect positive behavioral change. Lyrik’s Institution staff are passionate about education and have extensive experience working in public schools. All staff are highly qualified, licensed and certified to provide the services described below.

Power Moves Scholar Forum

Lyrik’s Institution’s Scholar Forums are created to facilitate an intentional conversation regarding important issues in the community. From the information gained, Lyrik’s Institute will meet with School Administration to share some of the community concerns of the scholars. We cannot facilitate change in the community if we are unaware of the concerns of our youth. Following the conversation, Lyrik’s institute will work with the school and community to gather the appropriate resources for our scholars.

The Power Moves Scholar Forum includes:

School Needs Assessment
4 / 90-minute student forums (not to exceed 40 students per group) to gather data specifically related to students need and concerns.
Forum with teachers to gather information on their concerns as it relates to the students they teach and the school environment.
Forum with school administration to gather information on their concerns as it relates to the students they teach and the school environment.
Synthesis of data collected from needs assessment, and student, teacher, and administration forums
Development and evaluation of target goals and school recommendations based on data collected.
Meeting with administration to discuss findings and next steps
Meeting with teachers/ stakeholders to discuss data collected, recommendations and targeted goals
Based on the Lyrik’s Institution curriculum, data reported, administrations goals, and stakeholder needs we will structure the school intervention to best address student needs.
Intervention follow up: Month 1, 2,3,6, 12 for one hour during each meeting
School visits as needed up to 4 per 12-month duration after the implementation of the Lyrik’s Intervention (not to include follow up)
Students: Pre and Post Test to gauge proof of concept.
Teacher evaluations to determine effectiveness at 3, 6, 12 months.

Professional Development

Lyrik’s Institution staff are evaluated to ensure you receive high quality professional development. Professional development can be individually catered to address specific needs of the school/organization. Examples of professional development include School-wide PBIS, classroom management, Tier 2 interventions, increasing parental involvement, culture based social skills instruction, social/emotional learning, improving critical thinking and emotional intelligence, and school discipline intervention.
COST VARIES BY DURATION OF PD.

Professional Development includes:

Training staff, customizing materials, coordinating services, modeling, and supporting the initial implementation of the procedures, conducting implementation checks, and adjusting as needed to ensure the school is receiving maximum benefit from the interventions and equipped to sustain those practices.

Parental Engagement: Our parental engagement services, will help schools and organizations transform the way families participate in the education of their children. Learn how to engage families as true partners in their children’s education and academic success.

Tier 2 Behavior Support: When students need additional behavioral support beyond a tier 1 system, schools should be equipped to intervene. The goal for our tiered behavior support services is to train the faculty on a 4-step problem solving model and to equip the staff with implementing a few, but incredibly effective, tier 2 interventions.

Social Skills in the Culture: Social skills training is an integral part of teaching students better coping skills. Teaching students with examples they can culturally relate to creates opportunities for students to better understand concepts learned. The key to Lyrik’s Institution’s social skills curriculum is to promote self-awareness, socialization, critically thinking, emotional intelligence and self-talk. As part of this service, school staff are equipped with the ability to teach students social skills, enhance their self-awareness and plan for the broad view of their skills to new settings. Our school wide PBIS package consists of:

School needs assessment with input from parents, students, teachers, and school leaders
6 - 12 hours of training for your faculty on the 5 core features of PBIS
Collaboratively working with your staff to develop an action plan for systematically implementing those core features.
3 scheduled days of on-site technical assistance to assist staff with the implementation of the core features
A school wide evaluation at month 6 and 12 after implementation.
Working with the school to customize core features and apply a formative approach to the implementation and evaluation stages.

A self-assessment of strengths and challenges administered to 1-4 teachers

Lyrik’s Institution’s School Leadership Intervention (Coaching Administrators on Discipline Practices)

Processing office discipline referrals can be a challenging task. Improper application may result in little or no change in student behavior or an increase of discipline referrals.

Our staff will:

Walk school leaders through 6- 12 hours of training on the process of responding to disciplinary referrals, problem solving with disciplinary data, de-escalation of crisis situations, intensive teaching of school/classroom expectations, teacher, and student collaboration regarding the successful re-entry to the classroom and the appropriate use of disciplinary practices to avoid inadvertent reinforcement of challenging behavior.

Annual Service Agreement

Schools are eligible to create a service package that provides a bit of everything based on the needs of the school. As part of this service, schools will be assigned a culture coach and a behavior consultant that will work collaboratively with your school to address school needs. The following is a brief summary of the services you may expect with the Annual Service Agreement:

SUMMER PROGRAMMING

Lyrik’s Institution- Summer in the City: Summer is the perfect time to re-tool and refine our teaching practices in a fun and interactive learning environment. Lyrik’s Institution’s Summer in the City is a 6-week summer program which offers social development in addition to student internships for 40-50 students. Contact us for a quote.

Lyrik’s Institution Classroom Management (Teacher Camp)

This intensive teacher camp provides five days of instruction, planning, development, and practice with implementing a comprehensive classroom management plan that will help teachers establish and maintain high expectations for students. The series helps build teacher fluency in critical skills through cumulative programming, rehearsal, and feedback from a culturally based pedagogy. Caring for Your Students and Yourself: Lyrik’s Institution Summer Retreat

This 4-day summer retreat is geared to help educators better understand the Cognitive Behavior based practices of Lyrik’s Institution by engaging them with their own wellness practices. The objectives of this course will help educators 1) understand the importance of vulnerability, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence 2) gain tools to monitor and improve their own critical thinking 3) gain tools to measure student’s social emotional status and 4) gain tools to integrate culturally based critical thinking and social skills into daily practice.

Internship In The Now

Lyrik’s Institution centers on behavior modification, while allowing our young adults to intern in a respected career field. While we do focus on the creative arts, we realize that every young adult will not prosper in that vocation. So, we changed our mentorship program into an internship program. Here we offer young adults the chance to learn “soft skills” such as: job etiquette, critical thinking, conflict resolution and accountability, effective communication, vulnerability, socialization, solution focused behavior, emotional intelligence, as well as goal and process setting. It's these critical skills that lay a foundation for our young adults to thrive once they receive “hard skills” training. Yet and still, we don’t stop there, we pair the interns with respected business owners in the career field of their choice. So, they not only learn the soft skills and training, but they also receive the opportunity to learn the wisdom of their career choice from someone thriving in that industry.

Our internship overview is as follow:

We serve young adults between the ages of 14-25
(2) 3-week internship programs a year (Spring/Fall)
(1) 6-week internship program a year (Summer in The City: Summer School)
We will take 50 students through each internship program
Those 50 students will be split across 4 internship sites each session (10 – 13 students per contracted internship opportunity)
Soft skills/ career development training will last 2 hours a day for a week during the (2) 3-week internships
Soft skills/career development training will last 4 hours during the 6-week internship
Interns will partake in hard skills (trade)/ career development training at partnering organizations for a week during the 3-week internships (5-8 hours a day)
Interns will partake in hard skills (trade)/ career development training at partnering organizations for 6 weeks during the 6-week program. (2-3 hours a day)
Interns will attend career exposure opportunities 3- 4 times a week with partnering organizations during the 3-week program. (2-3 hours sessions)
Interns will experience career exposure during the time they are with the partnering organizations during the 6-week program. (2-3 hours sessions)

Interns have the option to participate in internships for all 3 sessions, however we don’t see that as being highly likely unless their goal is to receive training in another field that is offered in a different session. All our partners will not participate in 3 sessions. Some internship opportunities will only last for one session. We have long standing partners that continually want the opportunity to train and hire new staff, and we have some partners who are content with being a part of the program as needed.

Some hard skill (trade) internships offer job placement after completion of the program. However, the students will have to compete for the final positions because all internships will not hire all 10-13 interns. This plays into the competing component of the curriculum. Some of our partnering organizations do offer certificated training, which is a benefit to taking the course even if they do not get a permanent job placement. Others will leave with the internship with experience gained in their respected field that will propel them ahead, albeit job understanding or experience for their resume. Lastly, some hard skill (trade) training offers college credits.
